Sacrament of Confirmation

Dear Parents/Guardians: On behalf of the Parish Staff and the Blessed Sacrament Parish Community, it is my pleasure to invite you to register your son/daughter in Grade 7** for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. In Confirmation, your child will complete his/her initiation into our faith that began at Baptism and the Eucharist. The parish and school programs will help to supplement the teaching and living of faith that you have been doing since the birth of your child. Confirmation is meant to be a sealing of the faith that is already present in your child. We will host a Confirmation Meeting for all Parents/Guardians and Candidates. It is very important that you attend this meeting as we will provide an outline of the Confirmation program including dates, times and protocols for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. CONFIRMATION MEETING Thursday October 9, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. If you wish to present your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation, please complete the registration form below by October 15th, 2025 (a copy of the child’s baptism certificate is required). Printed registration forms can be made available upon request. There is a $15 fee for gown rental, which can be paid by cash or cheque made out to Blessed Sacrament Parish. Please bring payment to any weekend Mass before November 2nd, 2025 in an envelope marked with your child’s full name and school. Your child will need to choose a sponsor for Confirmation. A sponsor witnesses the commitment to Christ that your child is making. The sponsor will present your child to the Bishop and stand with them as they are anointed. This person must be 16 years of age or older, baptized and confirmed and practicing Catholic. Please note that parents cannot serve as sponsors. Candidates for Confirmation are expected to attend six weeks of preparation sessions. This will be wonderful opportunity to connect with all the Grade 7 students in our Catholic Schools community. Further information will be provided at the Confirmation Meeting I pray that the coming weeks of preparation for the Sacrament will be a time of great grace and blessings for your child and your entire family. CONFIRMATION PREPARATION SESSIONS Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the Church or Parish Center (Basement) followed by Holy Mass at 7 p.m. Families are welcome to join! Walk in to drop off and pick up for safety reasons, parking lot is very busy around that time.
