Each year on the Feast of Epiphany, priests bless chalk, which is then distributed to parishioners. This practice is rooted in an ancient tradition inspired by the Book of Exodus.
Marking the doorpost with blessed chalk is a meaningful way to invoke God’s blessing and protection over the home. Many families faithfully observe this tradition, offering prayers of blessing and trusting in God’s care to safeguard them from illness, plagues, and other hardships.
