LENT 2026

Lent is a holy season of conversion and renewal. We are encouraged to enter more deeply into the Lenten journey with prayer, fasting and almsgiving. You are always invited to participate in the regular devotions we celebrate at Blessed Sacrament to help our Lenten journey as individuals and as a parish community.

DAILY LENTEN MASS: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. Wednesday through Friday. You are encouraged to attend weekday Mass as often as possible during the season of Lent. The Rosary is recited 30 minutes before daily Mass.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Come spend some quiet time every Friday following the morning Mass until 10:30 a.m. On the First Friday of each Month, Adoration follows our 9:00 a.m. Mass, continuing all day and ending with Benediction at 9:00 p.m.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Every Friday in Lent at 7:00 PM presided by the Clergy, led by different Ministries using different meditations on the Stations of the Cross.

CONFESSIONS: will be available Friday during the holy hour (9:45 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Lenten Penitential Service March 28th, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

PRAYER: Come spend time in quiet and peace at the presence of the Lord.  The Church is open until late in the evening.
“Pray that you would not come into the time of trial” Matthew 26:41

FASTING & ABSTINENCE: it is amazing how connected our spiritual lives and physical lives are and how much they affect each other. Change our routines and habits a little – one less coffee in the morning, no chocolate boost at 3:00 pm, a little less time in front of the TV or computer and life looks a lot different. A little less energy and solace from the things around us and we may start to find God more clearly in our daily lives and the power and peace to live well. The extra time spent in prayer – possibly praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, reading a Lenten Daily Reflection book, taking time to talk about our heartfelt faith with others helps us better appreciate God and the people and things in our lives. Fasting and Abstinence are powerful allies of prayer.
A reminder that Fridays in lent are traditionally days of abstaining from meat. Traditionally fasting is having one full meal and two part meals not equaling a full meal and no snacks in between. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are still days of fast and abstinence for all healthy Catholics from 18 – 59 years of age.

ALMSGIVING: With prayer and fasting belongs almsgiving. All three involve giving away in order to receive more authentically in return. Prayer can be the experience of giving our hearts and minds to God and receiving his Grace more fully. Fasting and abstinence direct some of what we need away from ourselves and opens our hearts to share what we have with others. Prayer and fasting lead us to share our time, talent and treasure in the best of ways. Our almsgiving becomes a sincere remedy for the needs of others.
May all of our Lenten acts of devotion bear much fruit in our lives and in the lives of those we are called to love.

Have a Happy Lent,
The Pastoral Staff of Blessed Sacrament Parish
